Contests

It turns out the Coast Pick the Pros contest is worth a play. You get a minimum of three free entries and the process for entering has been greatly simplified. Now all you have to do is swipe your players card at one of many kiosks around each property. No screwing around with the club booth or the betting windows. Swipe. Pick. Get lucky and collect some of the $30K weekly prize pool. Last week seven players went 15-1 and won $3,333.33 apiece.

With no winners in the Lucky's contest for the third week in a row, the carryover makes the prize $18,425 for a perfect card this week. The contest's pick-all format makes these carryovers unimportant, as the prize is far too low to justify the $5 fee to play.

Losing tickets

We're not finding too many interesting football promotions, but here are two involving losing tickets. A losing sports ticket from the Sahara sports book will get you a free drink at the NASCAR Café on Monday night. A losing parlay bet of at least $20 or straight bet of at least $50 puts you in a monthly drawing for $1,000 in cash at either Arizona Charlie's.

Following Fezzik

Fezzik went 3-2 last week in the Hilton SuperContest, bringing his record there to a pedestrian 7-7-1. Lots of time. Fezzik's records in the major contests appear below (with this week's results in parentheses).

LVASports Boards

We had a breakeven, lose-the-juice, kind of result on the message boards last week. This week's early selections, especially college plays from Alf, experienced some excellent positive line movement on and off key numbers, including a move on Michigan/Indiana from IN +14 (where it was recommended) to +10. Lock it In

Reduced Juice Tonight

Don't forget the LV Hilton offers promotional -105 pricing tonight for both NFL and college games from 3 to 11 p.m. It's the only book we know of doing that this year.

MNF at the Strip Clubs

The gentlemen's clubs have a big reputation for Monday Night Football parties, but they don't all fall into that category, especially a few of those we tried last Monday. Here are the grades of those we've dropped into so far.

Rick's Cabaret B+
Crazy Horse III C+
Play it Again Sam's C
Spearmint Rhino C-

Badda Bing! F

Rick's Caberet is the clear choice at this point. Any drink normally priced under $13 is free for the first hour of the game. That means Heineken, Jack and Coke, Kettle One, and other premiums, and the bartendresses serve them with a smile. There's also a small buffet with hot dogs, burgers, and not-too-good chicken wings. They don't check at the door, so as of now, it's free for locals and out-of-towners. Rick's had some people there. Most of the others were dead. Crazy Horse III gets points for free beer (draft) from 4 to 6 p.m. Play it Again Sam's was marginally lively, and they had a few boxes of pizza. We've never seen the Rhino so quiet; it had decent sandwiches. And the first F we've ever given goes to Badda Bing. The place emailed that they had free beer from 6 to 11, but when we got there, no one knew about it and the manager blew us off when we asked. Two guys were in the joint. Don't think so!

Best MNF Parties
