Contests

In Coast's Pick the Pros, five players went 15-0 last week. In Station's Great Giveaway there were no perfects on the win side (17 were 14-1) and one on the loss side. There were no perfect cards in the Lucky's contest, which means the rollover jackpot is now $27,325.

College Bowl Contest

The Station, Fiesta, and Wild casinos are running a football contest for the college bowl games. The “Last Man Standing College Bowl Edition” begins Dec. 28 and has a $25 entry fee (buy four and get a fifth free). There's a $15,000 guarantee and 100% of entry fees are returned as prizes. This is a good contest, not only because of the prize equity, but the short duration of the bowl season means that a big commitment of time is not required to play.

Following Fezzik Fezzik went 3-2 in both the M and South Point contests, putting him in third place in both, and just one game out at M. He'll post his M plays around noon on the LVASports.com message boards. Fezzik's records in the major contests appear below (with last week's results in parentheses).

Trop Book Opens

A temporary sports book has opened at the Tropicana. It's run by Cantor Gaming and In-Running wagering is reportedly available now. A permanent 42,000-square-foot race and sports book is under construction and expected to open in early 2011.

“Is there a rule of thumb for when a middle is profitable (long term)? For example, if I bet a college football total -6 and it goes to 8, should I bet back the other way? If it's been determined that specific spreads yield profits, can you quote them for pro and college football and basketball?”
