Lucky's Carryover

With no winners in the Lucky's contest last week, the carryover makes the prize for a perfect card this week $34,170.

Pick the Pros

There were three cards with 13-0 records last week. There's apparently an even split when there are two or three winners and each won $10,000 last week.

Following Fezzik

Fezzik was 2-3 in Week 6 of the Hilton SuperContest. His record is 14-19-2. Doesn't look good for this year. He'll have to throw in strange picks that don't correlate with the leaders and hope to get lucky from here. Fezzik's Hilton picks are posted on the boards at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Reduced Juice Tonight

Fezzik Fridays

Every Friday, Fezzik answers a sports-betting question in our Question of the Day feature at LasVegasAdvisor.com.

Tomorrow's question: Nationally syndicated (ESPN) sports-talk radio and TV personality Colin Cowherd has been hot with his football picks thus far this season, and he's made several references to moving the lines in Vegas when he gives out his picks on the air. While I didn't hear it first-hand, I'm told bookmaker Jimmy Vaccaro addressed that, saying something to the effect of “Not only does Cowherd not move the line in Vegas, he doesn't even move it in Bristol (ESPN is headquartered in Bristol, CT). Cowherd has a big audience. Is his media clout strong enough to have an effect, or is Vaccaro right in suggesting he's full of it?

Best MNF Parties

The Monday Night Football party hunt went to the south end of the Strip this week and turned up one good new option. The Hard Rock has turned its expansive poker room into “The Lounge,” which is designed specifically for football viewing parties. It has lots of tables and games, including pool tables, darts, Golden Tee, and Super-Shot basketball hoops. Drink prices aren't great, but beers are just $3 and Bloody Marys are $6. They sell loaded Chicago dogs from a cart for $6. The room is also open for the Saturday and Sunday games and could make a good venue, but like so many other things at the Hard Rock, no one seems to know about it and crowds are sparse. The Cantor sports book is also an incredible viewing spot at Hard Rock.

We also visited Rock House at IP, MunchBar at Caesars, P.J. Clarke's in the Forum Shops, and several bars in the Town Center shopping district, including the Blue Martini, and none impressed (though Blue Martini as a good daily happy hour that runs concurrently with the game with half-price drinks and good appetizers at substantial discounts).

To date, here's the good and bad.

Good: Sam's Town (free dog or hot dog & beer; Suncoast (free dog & beer); South Point ($1 dogs, all-u-can-drink $15, cash drawings); Gold Coast ($1 dogs and beers); Palazzo - Lagasse's Stadium (the Guchi standard); LBS: A Burger Joint (buy a burger and get unlimited 10¢ beers); any Station or Fiesta sports book ($1 drafts and dogs); Silverton ($1 beers and half-price appetizers); O'Aces at Trop and Decatur ($2 beers, 45¢ wings, 75¢ pizza and hot dogs, and $1 shots at halftime); Garfield's (higher-end, good prize giveaways); The Lounge at Hard Rock ($3 beers, $6 Chicago dogs); the B- (or better) strip clubs.

Bad: Boulder Station, M Resort, Palms, Eastside Cannery, Rampart, Orleans, CityCenter, Cosmopolitan, Santa Fe, Rockhouse at IP, MunchBar at Caesars.

MNF at the Strip Clubs
