TNF

Tonight's Thursday Night Football game is Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers. Team bars following the Steelers are Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House, Choice's Pub, Doc's Place, Island Bar, Johnny Fontane's Hideaway, Montana Meat Co. Durango, Murphy's Law, Noreen's, Outside Inn, and Timbers Novat. Team bars following the Browns are Boulevard Bar, Giuseppe's, Kopper Keg West, and the Tap House.

Lucky's Carryover

With no winners in the Lucky's contest last week, the carryover makes the prize for a perfect card this week $26,290. It costs $5 per entry to play. Fezzik wrote that he didn't see this play being worth the cost and effort until the jackpot was at least $30,000 on a week with a 13-game schedule and the majority of the games having big spreads (to make betting the favorites more valuable).

Pick the Pros

The 15-game slate took its toll and only two players went perfect last week. The two winners split the pot and took $15,000 each.

Following Fezzik

Every Friday, Fezzik answers a sports-betting question in our Question of the Day feature.

Tomorrow's question: You wrote that the sports book is a big “loss leader” for casinos. That is, it makes no money and even suffers losses on its own, but it brings people into the casino where they spend more money. I don't get it. It would seem that a sports book has to make money! It makes 5% of all bets -- that's a lot of money. Over the long haul, that's a much bigger edge than blackjack tables or most table games. I can't see how the sports books could not be profitable in the long run! Are you sure?
