SUPERCONTEST RECORD PACE: In the most celebrated big money buy-in contest in Las Vegas, the top ranked entry after nine weeks is cruising along at a mind-boggling 83% ATS clip. At 36-7-2 the Rounding Again entry is in a position to not only collect part of the 67% bonus but break the win percentage record of 76% set last year by the Chi Ballers team. In order to make the bonus payout mark of 67% all the Rounding Again entry must do is hit 50% the rest of the way. With ties worked in they could actually go a bit less than 50%. A mark of 19-20-1 the rest of the way would make them 55-27-3 and that would be enough. Just past the halfway point in the contest there are 32 entries at or above the 67% bonus mark.

ODDS ON 16-0: After week 9 there are three teams in the NFL that are are a perfect 8-0 and halfway to a perfect regular season. Future bets on an undefeated regular season along with a perfect 19-0 thru the Super Bowl are available at a number of books. Here’s a sample of some of what’s out there:

Any Team Goes 16-0 +400 (Regular Season) William Hill

Patriots go 16-0 +500 (regular season) CRIS
Patriots go 19-0 +1000 (Super Bowl Champion) Various

Bengals go 16-0 +1700 (regular season) 5Dimes
Bengals go 18-0 +3000 (AFC Champion) 5Dimes
Bengals go 19-0 +5000 (Super Bowl Champion) 5Dimes

NCAA FINAL FOUR: The most recent rankings for the college football playoffs have Clemson at #1 followed by Alabama at #2, Ohio St #3 and Notre Dame is now #4. On the outside looking in is #5 Iowa and #6 Baylor. A lot will be sorted out between now and the end of the month when conference title games take place and the Big 12 has back-ended many of the big match-ups.

WESTGATE OPENERS: NFL lines have been going up at 4:15 pm Sunday nights for the next weeks games making them the first anywhere to post numbers for pro football. The Wynn is the first anywhere to post college numbers. It’s been awhile since Vegas was first in posting both sets of numbers but for now they get theirs up before offshore on both.

ALIANTE CONTEST: Entries for the “Airin’ It Out” contest must be submitted during sports book business hours. We learned this the hard way showing up at 6am to put in picks at the kiosk.

GOLDEN NUGGET FINAL FOUR: The $2000 buy-in Golden Nugget Friday Football Showdown is now in the single elimination bracket stage and the LVA/LVAS team of Anthony Curtis and Frank B were the first to make the Final Four. After eight weeks and 56 selections the field of 87 was pared down to the top eight. The AC/FB entry placed 5th and drew the first week in the bracket. It wasn’t pretty and it went to the first tie-breaker but when the Best Bet of Eagles -2.5 won in OT that was enough. Next match-up will be early December. Until then the other three to join the Final Four must be determined and those elimination matches will take place each Friday at 2pm on ESPN 1100 radio. The schedule for the remainder of the first elimination round is as follows:

Nov. 13 – (1) Jonathan Rice vs. (8) Joey Fortuna

Nov. 20 – (2) Nicole Parthum vs. (7) Paul Stone

Nov. 27 – (3) Chris Zeniuk vs. (6) Marc Moore

WHO KNEW? Last trip into Jerry’s Nugget a stack of yellow $1000 sports betting chips were spotted behind the counter. As chips and vouchers have been phased out at bigger shops like CGT and Westgate it was nice to see them available for use at one of the remaining old-style books. Jerry’s offers the best off-the-board parlay odds in Nevada. 3-teamers return 6.5-1, 4-teamers are 13-1 and 5-teamers pay 26-1.

PARLAYING -105: Mesquite’s Casablanca and Virgin River sports books have amended their Thursday -105 promotion to now include parlays. In addition to laying half the juice on sides and totals Thursdays from noon to 4pm bettors can now parlay those numbers. That makes the parlay payoffs the best in the state during those hours as well. It’s a great deal for those willing to make the trek out to Mesquite.

ROUGH MONTH FOR DAILY FANTASY: In the past 30 days Nevada and New York joined Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana and Washington as states that classify Daily Fantasy Sports sites like DraftKings and FanDuel as illegal gambling operations. Access to players located in these states are blocked in various ways but it’s not all that difficult to get around these restrictions. It is not illegal for someone to play DFS, it’s the companies that are the ones prohibited from doing business within those states.

COAST PLAYERS CARD: Coast sports books switched to using the casino players card to track and credit sports bettors. You earn BConnected points that go directly onto your card point total as well as Tier points. For now, sports bets get credited to your Table Games points and not your slot points. This is probably done to avoid all the multiplier days that Coast has been running for machine players so check under Table Games for your balance.
