September 2015 Sports Book News

COURT DECISION: The 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals denied New Jersey’s attempt to legalize sports betting in licensed gambling venues. What this means is that the process of legalizing sports betting in the US is going to get drawn out even longer. For now, Nevada, illegal bookmakers, offshore operators and daily fantasy sports site benefit from the ruling.

ATLANTIS: During the month of September the Atlantis is offering 5X comp points on all mobile sports bets. This is a strong offer that makes the Atlantis card the best in the state this month.

The only survivor type contest in Las Vegas is at Stations casino and the sign-up deadline is Sunday Sept 13th @ 9am for the NFL contest and Saturday Sept 12th at 7:30pm for the college. 100% of all entry fees will be returned and there is a $75,000 minimum guaranteed payout for the NFL contest and a $40,000 minimum payout for college plus a $135,000 bonus if the same player wins both contests.

Interest is certainly nothing like the last title fight but we’ll have one in Las Vegas on Sept 12th at the MGM Grand as Floyd “Money” Mayweather goes for win number 49 in a ho-hum matchup vs challenger Andre Berto. Home PPV starts at $64.99. Floyd is a -2500 favorite and the total rounds is 11.5 OV -225. There is a good chance that Crazy Horse III and Deja Vu adult clubs will show the fight and have free entry if you arrive in your own vehicle.

The entry count at the bonus cutoff (Sept 7) was 1493. This makes it a record field, surpassing last years entry count of 1403. Entries needed for a $1,000,000 first prize payout is 1900. It appears they will come up short of that but that’ll be something to shoot at for next year.
The first contest card will be out Wednesday afternoon.

The entry count as of Tuesday was 87 which makes first place worth $118,500 and second place worth $41,500. The Nugget contest has a top heavy payout structure so this represents 80% of the prize pool.

The Virgin River in Mesquite will be putting out two sets of parlay cards per week this season. These cards will expire on Thursday at noon when a new set of cards with updated lines will come out. Normally, sports books have their cards out by Thurs AM with a few having them available Wed PM.

Stations has desktop betting as well and requires a Cox Residential internet connect. CG does not require a specific connection but did state that Cox and Century work the best.
